sharapova-grigorMaria Sharapova, 28, has split with fellow tennis star Grigor Dimitrov, 24, after a two-year relationship.
Bulgarian tennis star Dimitrov confirmed the news on Friday to Bulgarian media.

“We lived through wonderful moments together. I wish her much happiness and success in life and tennis,” Grigor also went on saying “Our paths parted” and this is “the summer of a new beginning”. He also added that “Now I am fully concentrated on my game, and I am sure the results will be visible soon”.

Maria Sharapova has not publicly commented on their relationship since Wimbledon. Wimbledon is where she reached the semi-finals vs. long time rival Serena Williams, who is also Grigor’s ex-girlfriend.

Maria shot to sports stardom after beating champ Serena Williams 6-1, 6-4, in the 2004 Wimbledon final at age 17. Maria’s career record verses Serena is 2-18.  “I have to take this trophy from you for one year. I’m sorry,” she said to Williams in the post-match ceremony. She added, “I’m sure we’re going to be here one more time and hopefully many more times in other Grand Slams and fight for the trophy.”

After their last meeting, Sharapova said: “I love every time that I step on the court against her because she’s the best. And you always want to play against the best. I’m proud to play in the same era as her.”
