Serena Williams, just one win away from tieing Steffi Graf’s record of 22 grand slams. Winning the U.S. Open will also give Serena her first-ever calendar year Grand Slam. Only six singles players have ever pulled that off. Steffi Graf was the last player to win a calendar grand slam back in 1988. With the chance of history being made, the demand for ticket sales has slightly increased. The U.S. Open is the final Grand Slam of the season. Set to begin on August 31st.

Serena has captured the last four grand slams. It all started back at the 2014 U.S. Open. Serena won her third consecutive US Open championship and 18th major title overall. Serena was victorious over good friend Caroline Wozniacki, beating her 6-3, 6-3. Serena tied Martina Navratilova, and Chris Evert with 18 Grand Slam singles titles.

“It is a pleasure for me to win my first Grand Slam here and then this No. 18,” Williams said. “So I’m really emotional. I couldn’t ask to do it at a better place.”

The Australian Open is the first Grand Slam of the tennis season. Serena Williams secured her 19th Grand Slam title after defeating Maria Sharapova in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5). Williams game proved to be too strong for Sharapova. Serena had 18 aces and won 84 percent of her first serve points. She finished the game serving up an ace.

Serena Williams added another trophy to her collection by winning The French open, which marked her third French Open win and 20th grand slam. Serena took on opponent Lucie Safarova upsetting her 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-2.

“When I was a little girl, in California, my father and my mother wanted me to play tennis. And now I’m here, with 20 Grand Slam titles,” Williams said speaking in French. “This is very special for me. I haven’t always played very well here, but I’m really happy to win the 20th here.”

With Wimbledon approaching, the Serena Slam was the talk of the town. After her third match during a press conference, Serena finally had enough when being asked about the Serena Slam.

“I’m not answering any more questions about the Grand Slam or the alleged Serena Slam,” Williams told reporters.

Serena defeated Spaniard Garbine Muguruza 6-4, 6-4 to win her 21st Major Title. This title completed her Serena Slam (winning the last four majors). Serena has now accomplished this twice. The first time in the 2002-2003 season.

“I honestly wouldn’t have thought last year after winning the U.S. Open I would win the Serena Slam at all,” Williams told reporters. “It’s super exciting.”
